The Centro de Arte Fundación María José Jove (FMJJ) and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) announce the resolution of the third edition of their International Artistic Residencies Program. For the 2026 call, the selected artists are Andrés Izquierdo, with his project Emanaciones, and Rosa Tharrats, with the proposal Tejer el agua.
Both creators will undertake a six-week production stay (between September and the first half of October 2026) divided between Mexico City and Oaxaca. During their residency, the artists will be supported by curator Luz Massot and will develop their research in close dialogue with the local cultural and social context.
Selected Creators and Projects
Andrés Izquierdo — Emanaciones
Andrés Izquierdo (Madrid, 1993) will develop Emanaciones, a project that will survey flower markets, candle shops, dye shops, repair workshops, and recycling facilities. His research follows a methodology inspired by the figure of the vulture (zopilote)—a scavenger bird deeply connected to the Mexican imaginary as an agent of transformation and territorial renewal. Using materials gathered during the residency, the artist will create a group of suspended sculptures through techniques of assemblage and transformation, advancing a line of work focused on the material processes of change.
Rosa Tharrats — Tejer el agua
Rosa Tharrats (Barcelona, 1983) will carry out Tejer el agua, a research project that conceives water as a memory in motion and a link between bodies, territories, and communities. The artist will work alongside Zapotec communities, craftswomen, cooperatives, and local workshops to explore the relationships between community water management systems and textile knowledge. Building on these encounters, Tharrats will produce wearable textile sculptures and large-scale pieces that will culminate in a collective performance in public space, reflecting on weaving as a practice of care and transmission of knowledge.
About the Residency Program
The main objective of this joint initiative is to promote cultural exchange and contemporary artistic production between Spain and Latin America, facilitating the creation of collaborative networks and strengthening the careers of Spanish creators within the international fabric.
The 2026 edition pays special attention to practices connected to the textile field—understood as a realm for material experimentation, the activation of cultural memories, and the articulation of contemporary discourses—as well as artistic research from a situated perspective that analyzes the connections between art, territory, and community.

The residents will carry out their stays at the facilities of the collaborating Mexican institutions:
Mexico City: Fundación Marso and Proyectos Públicos.
Oaxaca de Juárez: La Curtiduría Centro de Artes Visuales.
Residency Coverage and Support (Concluded Call)
Each selected creator receives the following support managed by the organizations for the comprehensive development of their stay:
Living Allowance: €1,500 (or its equivalent in pesos) for living expenses during the stay.
Production Grant: Up to €1,500 dedicated to artistic production costs.
Travel: Round-trip travel (Spain–Mexico–Spain) and internal transit covered.
Accommodation and Workspace: Assigned spaces at Proyectos Públicos (CDMX) and La Curtiduría (Oaxaca).
Institutional Support and Curatorship: Curatorial assistance and specialized mentoring by Luz Massot, as well as the organization of a final public presentation.
Medical Insurance: Travel health insurance provided by the organization.
